Assistant General Counsel or Associate General Counsel

The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning agency for the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area providing essential services to our region: transportation, wastewater treatment, growth and development of local communities, affordable housing programs, and regional park systems.  

The Council’s Office of General Counsel has a vacancy for an Assistant General Counsel or Associate General Counsel.  This vacancy may be filled at either classification based on the candidate's qualifications and business needs.

This position is eligible for hybrid (remote and onsite) teleworking.

The Assistant or Associate General Counsel will be responsible for providing expert legal advice on employment law, data practices issues, discrimination and ADA claims by customers, and handling/managing state and federal employment-related litigation, administrative hearings, and various other matters. 

Requirements: JD degree AND recent experience practicing law.

Assistant General Counsel Salary Range:  $89,669 - $145,517 annually
Associate General Counsel Salary Range: $103,875 - $168,604 Annually
