The Legislative Intern joins a team of dedicated government relations professionals to provide administrative support, note-taking, and committee coverage for the legislative session. The role is approximately 10 hours per week on a flexible schedule, primarily on-site/in-person.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Including, but not limited to):

  • Attend committee hearings, meetings, and floor sessions
  • Take accurate, complete notes
  • Effectively communicate legislative actions to lobby team and clients
  • Prepare concise written reports
  • Perform light policy research

SALARY: $20/hr

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES) REQUIRED:

  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by e-mail and telephone with clients, attorneys and staff to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact
  • Ability to travel to private and public buildings locally via private or public conveyance to fulfill essential job functions
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal relationships and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work successfully within a team environment
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing work, and following assignments through to completion
  • Skill in written and verbal communications

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires use of office equipment, such as computers, phones, and copiers
  • Requires sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time
  • Requires occasional lifting up to and exceeding 20 pounds
