Position Title: Patent Attorney

Position Summary:
The Patent Attorney Associate specializes in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, or an Advanced Chemical or Biotech degree. The Patent Attorney Associate will be responsible for tasks related to patent applications, patent preparation, patent law, patentability assessments, and due diligence.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Patent Applications, Patent Preparation, and Due Diligence.
- Knowledge of Patent Law and Patentability assessments.
- Experience in intellectual property and patent-related matters.
- Evaluates viability of patent requests; completes and files patent applications.
- Maintains knowledge of scientific, technological, and legal developments including completion of continuing legal education.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical, or an advanced chemical or biotech degree, required.
- A Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, required.
- Active license to practice law and in good standing, required.
- Registration to practice before the USPTO, required.
- Previous experience working in a law firm, corporate legal department, or tech transfer office.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of objects of up to 25 pounds.
